# The $REEF Bridge Has Closed

The $REEF token bridge at reefbridge.app is now permanently closed. As of 17:18:53 UTC today, users can no longer bridge $REEF from Ethereum or BNB Smart Chain to Reef Chain.

This closure was announced months ago, with the bridge scheduled to close in Q1 2026. A few weeks ago, we confirmed that the remaining $REEF allocation would not be refilled, giving users final notice to complete their migrations. The bridge had been operational since 27 February 2025.

What This Means
---------------

Approximately 9.86 billion legacy $REEF tokens remain unmigrated—4,325,757,067 on BNB Smart Chain and 5,533,453,218 on Ethereum. These tokens can no longer be bridged to Reef Chain permissionlessly. $REEF being custodied by centralized exchanges may still be migrated.

The bridge closure is permanent. There will be no future migration windows.

Options for Users Holding Legacy $REEF
--------------------------------------

If you still hold $REEF on Ethereum or BNB Smart Chain, you have the following options:

**Sell legacy tokens on decentralized exchanges.** Liquidity pools for legacy $REEF may still exist on Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain. You can access these through aggregators like [Matcha](https://matcha.xyz).

**Purchase native $REEF.** Native $REEF on Reef Chain is available through supported centralized exchanges or directly at [ReefSwap](https://app.reefswap.com/buy).

Supported Exchanges
-------------------

The following exchanges have completed the swap and offer native $REEF: MEXC, Gate, CoinEx, Hotcoin, WhiteBIT, KuCoin, CoinSpot, Bitrue, Poloniex, HTX, BitMart, and Paribu.

Other centralized exchanges have until March 16, 2026 to announce support for the native token swap. We cannot guarantee that additional exchanges will participate.

Documentation Updates
---------------------

We are updating all relevant documentation to remove references to legacy $REEF contract addresses on Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain. Bridging documentation at docs.reef.io will be revised to reflect the permanent closure.
